Lead-acid batteries are recyclable.

Rather than trying to read between the lines and conjecturing, hook one 
up to an oscilloscope.  It's a sine wave.  The waveform I get out of 
mine (I have whole lot of SMT-series units) is actually *cleaner* than 
the mains power.
