Correct. As long as world and kernel are in sync, you can
build and install as many kernels as you like. This is
also reflected in the "uname -v" output, for example
"FreeBSD 8.2-STABLE #1" indicates that this is the 2nd
kernel built for that particular version (#0 would have
been the first).

It's possible to just re-do "make kernel KERNCONF=FOO"
several times after changing something in the kernel
configuration. No need for buildworld here.
