It is, but in fact, that's a _valid_ path, unlike the one
with the "//" included. It's possible that this construction
is a side-effect which involves environmental settings and
command line options (environmental only for the subshell
that runs that specific command). What I also could imagine,
even though it doesn't sound logical, is that different shells
are involved, and subshells are called (bash, csh, sh)...
