That’s a FreeBSD® specific issue though. Other operating systems
did the sensible thing ages ago ☺
Even then, I tend to disagree here. There’s the common use of
‘% ’ and ‘$ ’ (and ‘# ’ but we use sudo(8) these days) as PS1
in examples to distinguish between these two.
