Adam & others,

I managed to get mplayer :)  With your suggestions, I got
mplayer-skiins
mplayer-fonts
and
mplayer tbz's and am now in business :)

Thanks to all who have suggested a fix.  Now to get some other
packages that I use on a regular basis.
