Why is sendmail in the core of FreeBSD?

Postfix and Exim aren't technological advances to Sendmail.  They
are just different ways of doing things.

The correct analogy would be "to hell with those 6502 processors.
Let's stay with those rock solid 8080 processors"

In which case it would be obvious to all how silly the statement
was.
