apache not working

My apache server is giving me the following error today when i tried to start it as it will working fine a few days ago but after my system had an improper shutdown then apache start giving me the following error kindly help in this matter.

[root at darkstar squid]# apachectl start
/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: Shared object "libexpat.so.5" not found, required by "httpd"
/usr/local/sbin/apachectl start: httpd could not be started
