1) Don't compile sound support into your kernel, remove any
  "device sound/snd" or whatsoever from there.
2) Don't "kldload snd_driver" . Use "kldload sound" and
   "kldload snd_atiixp"
3) If the above doesn't work, post your kernel config here, also the
   output of "vmstat -i"
