disk problem

Hello 

I wanted to install freeBSD6.0 on my machine. formerly windows2000 was running on it. But I could not install freebsd. Because it gave an error about harddisk.

My harddisk is Western Digital WD400  40Gbyte capacity.

I got the error message on the screen as below 

ATA0_MASTER : FAILURE - ATA_IDENTIFY TIME OUT

What shall I do ?
