On FreeBSD 5.x you need to run rpc lockd and statd on both the client
and server. Here's snippets from /etc/rc.conf on my boxes:
client:
nfs_client_enable="YES"
rpc_lockd_enable="YES" # Run NFS rpc.lockd needed for
rpc_statd_enable="YES" # Run NFS rpc.statd needed for
server:
nfs_server_flags="-u -n 10"
nfs_server_enable="YES"
rpc_lockd_enable="YES" # Run NFS rpc.lockd needed for
rpc_statd_enable="YES" # Run NFS rpc.statd needed for
Implement those changes, reboot (or restart daemons), and you should be
good to go.
