'BSD' make vs gmake on FBSD

Hi,

In libapreq2, FreeBSD users must use gmake mainly because of only 2 
makefile rules like the following:

%.html: $(POD_DIR)/%.pm


What's the easiest way to duplicate this behavior under (F)BSD make ?
