Have you modified your kernel to support monitoring devices? Since it
's VIA you can keep a closer look to these:
device          smbus           # Bus support, required for smb below.
device          smb
device          iicbus
device          iicbb
device          iicsmb
device          viapm

Maybe they're loadable modules, just a hint.
