Samba too slow

Hi,
I have changed  my machine and began using freebsd 5.1 REL. The machine Im 
using has samba on it and when I try to connect it from another machine in the 
internal network it takes long time for me to open the share.I tried the same 
through FreeBSD machine .. same result. When I get the tcpdump output I see 
something like type too short try longer..
Any ideas about the problem?
P.S: both machines have 100 MB etherenet connected to a switch. has 10.0.0.1 
and 10.0.0.2 / 28 ip adresses
