Double-check what's going on with your devices, what does "camcontrol 
devlist" give you?  Maybe try using "/dev/cd0c" rather than 
"/dev/acd0c"?

Is there any chance you could try this out under FreeBSD 4.9 or so 
instead of 5.x?
