Well, just had a little time to test a 1750 with 4.9-prerelease.

it works, dmesg attached below.
The Controller is a LSI based one, and looks like this:

Mounting root from ufs:/dev/amrd0s1a


You will need at least 4.9-pre, because the bge's are quite new, 4.8-R
will not find them.
