Create an /etc/ntp.conf file containing something like:

# /etc/ntp.conf: configuration file for ntpd

driftfile /etc/ntp.drift
statsdir /var/log/ntpstats/
#logconfig =syncevents +peerevents +sysevents +allclock

server time.apple.com
server time.windows.com
