pw username too long (max 16)

Hello,

I am running FreeBSD 4.8 stable and i am migrating a Linux box to FreeBSD. The problem is that i have usernames up to 32 characters (please don't ask me why).

I did a few things:

* changed #define MAXLOGNAME      33 in /usr/src/sys/sys/param.h

I did a buildworld, buildkernel, installkernel and installworld. After rebooting the max is still 16.

I know i am doing something wrong, but i don't know what it is.

Please help.
