HTT + machdep.hlt_logical_cpus

Well this helps a bit ...:)

But the problem I had was that when I added it to sysctl.conf
I added the 'word' sysctl infront of the command....not just the command 
itself...

Stupid mistake. After fixing that...SMP is working nicely on this machine.
