demise of majordomo and unsubscribing to lists?

I have to agree that the mailman interface isn't particularly friendly to
first-timers.

Follow the second link in the footer of a message you've received from the
list (the unlabeled one starting http://).

Go to the bottom section of that page (ignoring the first line of it that
says "(The subscribers list is only available to the list administrator.)"
which probably gives you the immediate impression that there's nothing down
there for your use).

Enter your subscribed email address and click the "Unsubscribe or edit
options" button. On the next page enter your password and click the "Log in"
button. Once you've logged in you'll see your membership configuration page
and you should be able to work out what you want from there. Simple, huh?
(It is once you know what you have to do to get there but it doesn't exactly
my idea of an 'intuitive interface').
