Unfortunately, I'm not sure why they did not include the threading patch in
python 3.8. I suspect because the use-case is relatively small (daemon=True
threads and how they're destroyed/cleaned up by the calling thread) and they
were very late in the "release" process for pushing out 3.8?? I'm not sure,
hard to know.
