Thank you for the suggestions. I updated the patch and a quick overview follows
for the sake of brevity:

- Add the port to the "python" virtual category
- Enable for all Python versions
- Add "concurrent" keyword to USE_PYTHON
- Make package architecture neutral by adding "NO_ARCH"
- Removed superfluous DOCSDIR
- Add TEST_DEPENDS and a (do-)test: target to make QA easier
- Add some info about the tests and their prerequisites
