I just tested it, and this is still an issue.

I configured the system that it automatically selects FreeBSD (since I can't do that via a keyboard),
and I don't see the FreeBSD output on the Monitor unless I apply D15818 and manually deal with merge
conflicts. Then I do see the output in yellow...

Except for updating the patch to apply cleanly, what is needed to get it in the tree.
Automatically selecting the OS to boot seems a nice feature even with a Monitor/Keyboard
attached.
