I have access to one PowerMac G4 (the 733 MHz Digital Audio variant) that FreeBSD 10.x will not boot but Mac OS X 10.4 and lubuntu 14.01 boot and work fine with. (I've not tested FreeBSD 11.0-CURRENT or 9.x-???? but I have tried a few vintages of 10.0 since last April and now a 10.1-PRERELEASE r270981.)
The boot messages stop updating instead of outputting the first ada0 message.
As far as I can tell this is too early for me to capture the text. So I'll use similar text from a 466 MHz PowerMac G4 that does boot for illustration.

As far as I can tell all the USB devices are listed on the display if I vary what is plugged in from boot attempt to boot attempt. But after that it stops without the "ada0 at ata0 bus 0 scbus0 target 0 lun 0" message each time (or any more messages). I will note that cd0 is not a MATSHITA in the 733 MHz PowerMac.
