  Possible, yes, I think so thought it is going to take some work. The 
604e looks a lot like a G3/G4. However, I have no idea what i/o h/w 
looks like in this box and that would be where the work would lie.

  I think Linux uses OpenFirmware RTAS to access h/w in these machines: 
that would also be possible with FreeBSD/ppc.
