The ports tree is common to all archs, AFAIK.
Many ports (not all) install fine on PPC.
Example:
root at kg-g4# uname -a
FreeBSD kg-g4.kg4.no 7.0-BETA3 FreeBSD 7.0-BETA3 #2: Sun Nov 18
19:58:46 CET 2007 root at kg-g4.kg4.no:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC
powerpc
root at kg-g4# portversion -v | wc -l
308
