Hi,
thanks for replying.
I hadn't the time to try the dri trunk (I think you refer to 
graphics/dri and/or graphics/dri-devel ports, am I right ?).
In any case I'm not sure if that can help: given the error message, and 
the fact that I get a similar error for other drivers too
(the vesa driver for example), I suspect that it has to do with the 
build process of x.org 6.9.0.
Unfortunately, I'm not competent enough to understand what the problem 
could be.

Luckily I've been able to properly configure x.org 6.8.2, so for now I
