There was a port of the Darwin HFS+ code to FreeBSD 5.3 (http://
people.freebsd.org/~yar/hfs/). It worked quite well -- full read/
write, etc. After 5.4, it stopped building. It is licensed under the
APSL, not the BSD one, but does integrate nicely into the FreeBSD
kernel.
