Hardware compatibility

Hi,

I'm fairly well experienced with FreeBSD/i386 but am
wondering about using a PPC for my networking needs. 
I'd like to go with something smaller form factor/less
power than a full-fledged PC tower, but it doesn't
bother me if it ends up being about the same.  I do
realize the array of products from Apple, so let's
assume I'm not interested in Apple hardware.
I am wondering what hardware is out there that would
fill  what I'm looking for that FreeBSD would run on,
with a do-able level of trouble.
