That might be possible, but it would result in dropping a serious slice
of functionality from the connector. So I'd only ever want to have that
as an optional thing. It's also something which is probably beyond what
I'm competent to do, right now. I'd need to do some intensive revision
to bring my java+ant skills back up to scratch.
On the other hand, I have no idea if this would even solve the OP's
actual problem.
