Probably the port needs a C++11 library and not just a C++11 compiler.
On FreeBSD 8 only the lang/gcc ports provide a C++11 library, so you
could try the following.
In the port Makefile there's a line like this:
USES= compiler:c++11-lang pathfix pkgconfig
Try changing "compiler:c++11-lang" into "compiler:c++11-lib".
