Does it mean line

hpssd_enable="YES"

should be taken out of /etc/rc.conf? If so, pkg-message of port should be 
changed to not request this addition.

I will try to install it too (and maybe possibly rebuild hplip again after 
that change) and report the results here. But give me some time to do it, 
please...
