1. Yup, DNS works (I can ping and nslookup portsnap.freebsd.org).
2. Yeah, I've been thinking of doing the upgrade. We just use the
box as a mailserver
for a very few people (like five of us) and really never took the
time--or made the effort--to
do an upgrade. Sigh...I guess it's that time!
