FreeBSD Port: mono-0.30.1

Hi,

Does mono work well on FreeBSD?  I've ready many references to problems 
with the garbage collector on FreeBSD (I think it's boehm-gc).

And, how long does it normally take between the release of a new version 
of mono and the availability of a port for it?

I'm pretty much a noob to FreeBSD/Linux (as I'm sure you can tell:) so I 
appreciate any response you can provide.
