gnome2 cannot show pdf file contents

The file I am reading is:
http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/white_papers_and_tech_docs/24593.pdf

I found the gnome-pdf-viewer does not work with my locale settings,
if I reset LC_ALL to none, it works again.
