Hi,
I had a problem executing dx program in my computer after installing
opendx-4.2.0.
The make install work fine, and also calling dx programs works as well.
The "Welcome" and "Data Explorer" windows opens correctly.
But, when I tried to start the suggested tutorial:
===> Click on "Edit Visual Programs ..." ("Net File Selection" opens)
======> Edit Filter line: to /usr/local/dx/samples/tutorial/*.net [filter]
======> Select: Selection /usr/local/dx/samples/tutorial/example1.net [ok]
I got the following error message:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error: Unable to connect to dxexec.
The xterm window reports (at the same time) the additional message:
bash-2.05b$ dx
_dxl_ReadPortNumber: Bad file descriptor
timeout waiting for response from DX
select: Bad file descriptor
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found the program dxexec in directory /usr/local/dx/bin_freebsd/dxexec
and run it. It seems to work properly.
I'm using FreeBSD 4.8 and the usual installation port.
# $FreeBSD: ports/graphics/opendx/Makefile,v 1.28 2003/02/20 18:08:09 knu Exp $
I'll sent a copy of the final information about "make install" of opendx.
