firebird and xemacs locking up/crashing "in pairs"???

Was anyone able to determine what part of the equation is buggy here? I
use windowmaker with click-to-focus + firebird/xemacs and experience the
same thing. XEmacs always prints several xlib errors in the xterm when
it occurs.
