--- Comment #1 from Kubilay Kocak <koobs at FreeBSD.org> ---
Thank you for your report Christian
Binary packages are built using the ports frameworks default options
(OPTIONS_DEFAULT) which enables users to quickly obtain and install software
without compiling.
This means that software installed via the packages system is not customisable
in the usual sense, which means that zabbix uses the default mysql type and
version, in this case, MySQL (not MariaDB).
Users have a number of choices available to them for customising
1) Build the desired software from a port, either using the ports tree
utilising the ports OPTIONS, or using the recommended method, poudriere, to
build your own set of custom packages.
For more information on how to change dependency sets that utilise
DEFAULT_VERSIONS, see: https://wiki.freebsd.org/Ports/DEFAULT_VERSIONS
2) Ignore the default dependencies and install the desired software. In this
case, install the mariadb-server and/or mariabd-client dependencies you want,
and configure zabbix to use it.
