The static library is built w/out -fPIC and prevents the update of
math/openturns to 1.16rc1. See the error message in
https://github.com/openturns/openturns/issues/1652#issue-734688473

Additionally, shared libraries make it easier to track dependencies. For
example, USE_XORG were missing and this became apparent only through the shared
library.
