I also experienced an unbound crash this morning:

Dec 17 06:19:08 phlox kernel: pid 1711 (unbound), jid 0, uid 59: exited on
signal 11

I am keenly interested in testing a patch for this issue and I would encourage
Jaap's suggestion to do an emergency patch to the port.
