ftp/curl ignores HTTP_PROXY environment variable, but reads the compatibility
setting http_proxy. Strange thing is that NO_PROXY is read (no_proxy also).

'man 3 fetch' says that the lowercase variables are 'for compatibility'.
Please let curl read the uppercase proxy environment variables.
