Upon further reflection, I have reworked the patch in a way that preserves both
the old and new API that I think won't require any ports changes.  If you have
room to still do an exa-run it might be best to make sure it doesn't break
anything, or if you have a backlog I can just commit the updated version (kib@
has already ok'd it).  The updated patch is at the same phab URL.
