Bug ID: 223703
Summary: net-mgmt/icinga2: crash on signa 11; start failure
when folder missing/ownership wrong
Product: Ports & Packages
Version: Latest
Hardware: Any
OS: Any
Status: New
Severity: Affects Only Me
Priority: ---
Component: Individual Port(s)

Today, we upgrade several FreeBSD 11.1-p3 boxes to 11.1-p4 due to several
security issues reported recently. In this set of tasks, one satellite system
running icinga2 2.7.0 so far without problems as satellite to a master (master
is still running icinga2 2.7.0) has been updated to icinga2 2.7.1_2.
icinga2 now is not starting anymore!
First of all, the icinga2 daemon started compalining about missing folders or
"permission denied" errors never seen before the update on folders with obvious
incorrect ownership:
/var/cache/icinga2 has after pkg-installation ownership root:icinga, but with
2.7.1_2, it is needed to be owned by icinga:icinga!
The same with /var/run/icinga2/, where some feature tries to establish the cmd
pipe. The ownership of /var/run/icinga2 is root:icinga and needs to be
icinga:icinga, otherwise i get a "failed with error code 13: Permission denied"
from icinga2.
the icinga2 2.7.1_2 daemon never starts, on console, I receive always an signal
11 death of icinga2.
Somehow the rc script of net-mgmt/icinga2 isn't capable of handling the
existence of important folders with FreeBSD 11.1-p4, as there are
/var/cache/icinga2
/var/log/icinga2
/var/run/icinga2
The latter is weird, since we run some CURRENT boxes with most recent icinga2
2.7.1_2 services in the very same configuration, but with /var/run residing on
tmpfs. /var/run/icinga2 can not be expected to exist after rebooting the box.
