IIRC FreeNAS uses it. They do generate the config files from a database, but
you could configure a FreeNAS system to join your AD domain and take the
generated config files as starting point for your own sssd setup. Snapshot /etc
and /usr/local/etc before and after joining the domain. You can use zfs diff to
find the changed files.
