Bug 212846 is not blocked by this, it in fact is a proposed change that would
deprecate/supersede this issue.

Opinions aside, one of these issues needs to be closed in favour of the other,
depending on whether the existing port will cross a major boundary from 1.x ->
2.x, or a new port (databases/couchdb2) is created.

With that in mind, this is existing maintainer related (request feedback
accordingly)
