I'm going to reject this simply on the grounds that we'd have to use PORTEPOCH
because 1.7.0.a is > 1.7.0.

I suggest you change to use the tagged release once an update is available and
it is newer than 1.7.0. Sorry, but I hope this makes sense. Your ambition to
improve the port is greatly appreciated.
