After a recently performed update of CURRENT r300830 to somewhat CURRENT
r300990 or higher, the MSI GTX960 4G GPUs we use in some workstations start
blowing full-speed-fan as soon as xdm/Xorg-server starts and throttle when
shutting down the Xorg server (X11 is from most recent ports and up to date).

This phenomenon is present with the supported nVidia BLOB in ports
x11/nvidia-driver as well as with the most recent BLOB 367.18 (for a patched
