It seems that duplicity got slower, especially with things like
collection-status on larger collections. In 0.6 this takes less than 10secs,
0.7 seems to take more than 10 minutes sometimes.

The Changelog http://duplicity.nongnu.org/CHANGELOG mentions 

* Fixed bug #1570293 duplicity is very slow due to excessive fsync
