Additionally, there is the following difference which did not exist previously:

[0]# pkg query %n-%v lang/rust  
[69]# pkg query %n-%v rust-1.14.0
rust-1.14.0
[0]# 

The first query returns a wrong value, presumably because the absolute port
path has been stored in the pkg db.
