After upgrading gitlab from 8.11.11_1 to 8.11.11_3, I followed the instructions
at:

https://github.com/t-zuehlsdorff/gitlabhq/blob/master/doc/update/freebsd_patch_versions.md

to bring the runtime environment up to date.

Running:

rm /usr/local/www/gitlab/Gemfile.lock

cd /usr/local/www/gitlab
rake db:migrate RAILS_ENV=production

resulted in:

Could not find gem 'jquery-rails (~> 4.1.0)' in any of the gem sources listed
in your Gemfile or available on this machine.
