As the maintainer of databases/postgis22, I really like your suggestion of
something like a port framework with USE=postgis etc.

Another point is, that it can be necessary to have several versions of
PostgreSQL installed at the same time, which also makes it necessary to install
several PostGIS versions. This is not possible atm (CONFLICTS).

Unfortunately, my skills are not sufficient for such a complex project :(
